Rolling and Tumbling
Rolling and tumbling skills are one of the basic skills in Vovinam Viet Vo
Dao. The skill is as fundamental as kicking and punching itself. Why?
Because it helps develop agility, balance, and confidence in the practitioner--more agile
so that one may be quicker and lighter on his feet--more sense of balance so that one may
not fall down as easy--more confidence so that one may not be as easily intimidated.
Let's digress from the theoretical to the practical for a second.
It's most useful attribute, consequently, is that it prevents you from getting hurt.
Whether it's slipping on a wet floor or falling off a bike, the scenarios are endless, but
the skills required to prevent you from getting hurt in these cases are limited. A
vovinam trainee will be able to instinctively maneuver himself as to minimize the risk of
injuries.
