The 2000 Lo Duc Thanksgiving
Festival took place during the weekend of Friday, November 24, through Sunday,
November 26. The festival is a fundraiser for Our Lady of Lourdes Church. Many
well-known Vietnamese singers were on hand to perform at the event. Among those
present were Khanh Ly, Manh Dinh, Truong Vu, Be Map, Linda Trang Dai, Tommy Ngo, and Viet
Dung. It has rained a couple of days prior to the festival so the festival grounds
were very muddy. Nonetheless, people still showed up to attend the event. So
much, in fact, that organizers had to turn newcomers away Saturday night.
Vovinam Viet Vo Dao has a training center at the church and thus were apart of its
community. We had two booths setup. One booth was selling drinks, balloons,
and games while the other was selling oriental gifts with the help of Tam from Vovinam
Linh Son. And of course, there were also martial arts performances as well.
Saturday night's performance were done by Vovinam Linh Son and Sunday's afternoon
performance were done by Vovinam Lo Duc and Vovinam Hoa Lu. Below are pictures that were
taken during the three day event.
